painted door handles / tail gate handle

Well i found handles painted black, $70 for the pair and another $70 just for the tail gate. Are these decent prices? About how much would it cost to just have my stock ones painted?
I have an 06 silverado ext cab (black)
or is it even possible to easily do this myself? (i have no knowledge of what i would have to do)

Re: painted door handles / tail gate handle

if you have the ones that I have. you will not get that smooth finish as the painted ones are. you better buying the painted ones.

Re: painted door handles / tail gate handle

If you want them to look right, you have to sand them down smooth before you prime/paint them. VERY time consuming.

You can get the painted handles in your stock GM color on Ebay for that same price. Unless you have a black truck.

I just got a quote for some green ones (GM 47U) and the quote shipped was $140 something. It included both doors, and the tailgate.

What I want t o know is how to get the painted mirror caps to match my truck, like the tahoes have.

I saw a guy once on ebay selling them painted. It was a while ago, though. Keep searching, maybe he'll be back. Those might also be a lot easier to paint yourself than the door handles.

Re: painted door handles / tail gate handle

just take your time and sand them smooth and get the spray cans of touch up paint and clear coat and paint them. it is time consuming but cheaper than buying and they look nice when done.

Re: painted door handles / tail gate handle

I am trying to find a good place to start buying door handles and gate handles and start painting them. I also found some mirror covers that are paintable that you put on your mirrors with 3M red tape, I am going to experiment with a set or two of these.

Re: painted door handles / tail gate handle

A friend of mine used a spray filler primer. Not sure what brand or what, but he said that he just sprayed his with the filler spray primer, sanded it smooth and painted. He said the primer filled in the texture, so all he had to do was smooth it out a little and paint. They still look good a couple years later.
