timing belt tensioner question
99 Rodeo 2.2L
i adjusted the tensioner per the haynes manual. belt seems like it is loose to me (but i don't know what it is supposed to be like really), the question i have is on the tensioner. I set it per the manual, torque it and tested the engine. I can watch the tensioner move from the set mark... is it supposed to move like that? I tested the car, have a misfire issue i'm trying to iron out, but all the timing marks stay true. In this photo, it is after a test run and you can see the pointed marker is not in the spot it was originally set at (notch in rear piece). This tensioner seems to be spring powered, is it supposed to move about? Instructions that came w/ the timing belt said to adjust when belt is cold, Haynes doesn't say that but that's what I did. Thinking of taking it to the repair shop and having them check it too. I put a lot of time and money into rebuilt head etc. Thanks! for any thoughts.
