Tamiya 1/20 MP4/4, MP4/5B, MP4/13 & 1/12 MP4/6

For those interested Tamiya are re-releasing the MP4/4, MP4/5B & MP4/13 in 1/20 scale and also the MP4/6 in 1/12 scale.

MP4/4 link: http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM20022
MP4/5B link: http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM20026
MP4/13 link: http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM20046
MP4/6 link: http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM12028

If you look at the list of re-releases into the Formula 1 category lately, (Brabham BT50, Renault RE30B, Turbo BMW Turbo), I have a feeling that a NEW F1 kit is just around the corner!!!!!

Place your pre-orders!

Why no M23s I wonder? They have been crying out for a reissue for decades now, especially the 1/20th kit.

It's been reissued several times for the last couple of years or so. It's just that the Tamiya kit doesn't come with decals, and you have to buy a decal set from Studio27.

I've heard roumours about these white and black box releases. Not exactly something Tamiya have gone out of their way to make well known ouside of Japan. I've certainly never seen one of these reissues, otherwise I'd have bought it on the spot! Wonder why they feel the need for the cloak and daggar antics?

I picked the white box M23 up at the beginning of the year! It's a great kit and next on my pile of to do models! Thus the reason for the picture in my sig. You'd never guess which version I'm building?

Wow, nice, perhaps now I can start saving money fpor the MP4/6, 180€ for that kit is a "little" too expensive for me

Re: Tamiya 1/20 MP4/4, MP4/5B, MP4/13 & 1/12 MP4/6

The white and black box kits were Japanese only issues released at various hobby shows. They were never exported except for Japanese individuals selling on eBay etc.

As for the Perfect Parts set for the MP4/6, I will be getting more. Just waiting on the manufacturer to sort out an issue with having turned parts made. Just be a bit patient as there is no need to spend crazy dollars on eBay for them. In fact, several people have bought them from me and turned around and tried to resell on eBay at a hefty profit :-(

Ron

Very sad there are such blood sucking leeches on the fringe of our hobby. Happily they get there cumeupance sometimes, like back in 2000, last time Tamiya reissued the MP4/6, prices on original kits plumeted from AUS$700 plus very quickly.

Yes, very sad. Here is an example: eBay item # 260051639285 which was purchased from me for retail price of $60. The seller is now trying to triple his money by selling it for about $180!

Ron, let's hope no-one bids for that set!

Any idea when the 1/12 detail sets will become available again?

Soon I hope. There has been a problem having turned parts made so hopefully that can be sorted out shortly.
