Buying a lancer

Hi there, I am looking for a Lancer Evo. Preferbaly the Evo 8, doesn'y matter if its Mr or not.. actually what is the difference between the IX and MR? I am having trouble because I really don't know about the EVO. After hearing a Mazda 6 with a supercharger on will smoke the Evo, it just killed my crave for the EVO. So can anyone tell me what is the potentials of the EVO? And what's the difference between an IX and MR? Thank you guys so much
