My car broke... yesterday

So. My civic just lost all compression in #2. My parents are gone for the week. I have no job because i'm going to school, but my school is 35 miles away, which i don't feel entirely comfortable driving to on three cylinders. Just my damn luck too. I sold the Z34 which aside from the radio not working and the timing belt needing replacement soon...and kinda bad gas mileage, was a pretty good car. I wanted to get a civic or corolla to make the 70 mile round trip easier on my wallet. Of all the luck i land this piece of crap civic that just shit the bed.

I'm not even that angry (or very stressed for that matter). I'm just kinda disappointed. I dont really need this right now, and it makes me regret selling every cool or decent car I had before. This is seriously the worst one i've had...evar. Even worse than the turbo 2, and that's saying a lot.

So, what are my choices? Well, my mom has been eyeing a honda fit for a while (dont ask) but she wasnt planning on getting that until the spring and then giving me her current car, a 2k2 protege 5. So I dunno if that can happen.
Another option is seeing if i can buy back that lumina. I sold it to my old manager at work, who gave it to his kid, but he kid has no interest in it and its basically been collecting dust in the driveway since.

egh crap.

The Honda Fit is a rad car. Tell your mom to go buy one tomorrow.

Re: My car broke... yesterday

short term, you should try to get the lumina. In my opinion, save up for the car you REALLY want to drive.

Re: My car broke... yesterday

Well, i'tll be a while till i can save up the 17 grand for a good condition 93-95 RX-7 that i want, But i digress.

The P5 is a pretty nice car, my mom maintained it well and its bright yellow. I think bright yellow is cool. Except its a gutless (guuuuuutless) 4 banger. Then again its pretty new, so i wont have to worry too much aobut it, and doing regular maintanence things should be a big deal (oil cahnges, brakes, timing belt and such)

The Z34 however, is a pain in the motherfucking DICK to do ANY work on, and considering the fact that it is 16 years old and was aobut to roll over 100k miles when i sold it, it needed some maintanence items. I had already fixed the "rusted out non-stainless steel heater core line that runs by the wheelwell " problem. I fixed the front brakes which was SUCH a pain in the ass, because GM likes to use torx bolts and red loctite every goddamned where. Then The alternator went. That was $600 bucks out of my pocket, becasue i wasnt aobut to drop the subframe myself to get to the damn thing. Then the heater core went. That's when i sold it. Since I sold it the heater core was fixed, the rear struts and the mufflers replaced, as well as a front balljoint or something and had an alignment. So it SHOULD fucking be ok by now, but i worry aobut that royal piece of shit transmission that they put in those things, and doing a timing belt job on those 3.4TDC motors is about as fun as putting your balls in a press, only it hurts more.
But it had gobs of power and torque. And i have to admit, the lumina Z34 is a really really cool looking car. I showed up many a ricer in that thing. Heck, i even beat out my buddies lexus ES300 in it when i raced him on the highway. Well, until i hit third gear (retardo gear).

Ah so in all honesty i think it would be best if i got that P5, but i have this feeling i'm gonna be puttin' around in chebby power again very soon.

Why not look into getting a low mileage engine swapped into the Civic?

becasue finding a low mileage D15 (that hasn't been rotting in a junkyard for 11 years) is a crapshoot. That, and i dont have the time or the space needed to swap the motor.

Re: My car broke... yesterday

i suggest temporary moped for transportation, and white straight-jacket with aviator goggles for entertainment.

sorry about the car, i know how bad it is losing it during school and no work. i have a 30 minute commute to college as well, and just got a job. if my car broke again, i'd be stranded. no (convenient) public transportation in suburbia

Re: My car broke... yesterday

Theres no public transportation in any way shape or form whatsoever here in ruralia. And people in europe wonder why everyone in the U.S. needs a car.

Re: My car broke... yesterday

I thought you had an RX-7 already, that's why I got excited when I clicked this post I figured something broke. I am behind the times though.

I've been gone a long while (busy busy busy...) I am going turbo swap in my FC come spring. And you don't need 17k for an FD. Someone within my area (NY) was selling one for $6300. Yes $6300. Running, good condition. Funny thing is I had the money, but I also have responsibility. Whatever you do, don't spend more than 13k on an FD. The problem is almost every FD owner thinks that buy modding their car, they increase the value. Modding a car does NOTHING for value. An all original car is worth more than a modified one (unless you are swapping a Ferrari motor into a Kia). Be patient and keep looking and you'll find the right RX-7
