Question 86 pickup w/ 22R temp goes to 220 initially then back to 190

My 86 pickup initially goes to 220 when I first leave on any trip then when it reaches the whiteline before the red, it immediately goes back down to 190 within 10 seconds and stays there as long as I drive it. I have changed the thermostat, fan clutch, water pump, and flushed the system. ANY IDEAS, it's driving me crazy.

TSB: 029032787 22R-E Engine Temperature Overshoot

It says:

Some 1984 pickup trucks and 1983-1984 Celica models, equipped with 22R-E engines, may experience a condition called "temperature gauge overshoot". After starting a cold engine the temperature gauge will indicate a higher than normal engine temperature for a short time just prior to the thermostat opening. After the thermostat opens, the temperature gauge will return to the normal range. A new double valve part number 90916-03070 thermostat has been made available to reduce temperature gauge overshoot.

Applies to later 22R/E's too.

THanks,
I did finallt get another brand of thermostat last night at Orielly's, (I work at Advance) thinking maybe we had a bad batch. I'll give this a try tonight. If this doesn't work, what would be a good source for the part # you mentioned?
Thanks for the info.

It's a Toyota p/n, so the dealer is only source.

!!ALways flush properly !!!! After replacing the radiator and running for 1 day, my anti-freeze was brown and cruddy. I took the second thermostat out and the button was covered in gook. I left the thermostat out and put a water hose in the top radiator hose and open the drain petcock. I was putting water in slightly faster than it was running out. It would build up pressure and spit water back out the top radiator hose, (throw up). It took over an hour before the system was clean. I put in a new thermostat and to date have run 400 miles without a single incident.
