Wiring

Hey,

Now i need abit of help here, when i wire an engine i dont have alot of success. I was wondering what is the best way to do it and how to get the best results, as in how do you put in place the wires, do u use a drill for the parts, how do you glue them in and last of all how do you make the ends of some wire. Like the metal bits, might post some pics of what i mean.

Re: Wiring

Here you have two places that will answer most of your questions about modeling.

When I wire an engine I prefer to use copper wire in different sizes because it bends without kinks, holds the form and is also easy to paint.

Drill a corresponding hole, put a tiny drop of super glue on the wire and push it in place.
Bend, trim and glue the other end and it's ready for some paint.
Looks something like this.

For the plug boots I use some insulation from a very thin electric wire with the strands pulled out.
Here's my tutorial on braided hoses; http://niclasproos.fotopic.net/c193019.html

Good luck!

Re: Wiring

Any drill in the right size will do, I have a little set with drills from 0,3 to 1,6 mm and a pin wise to hold them while drilling.
The cable guards on the green machine is from Detail master, but you can easily make your own from sheet styrene or thick aluminium foil, The kind that's in food containers.
