Infinti Issue
Has only experienced with their QX4 or any Infiniti where you start up the car and you get a squeaking noise?
I can almost wager that is has to do with a fan belt, as you hear it noticeably only at startup and if your turning your wheel all the way to the left or right. I think it has to do with the fan belt just needing wd40, but can anyone confirm that this has also happened to you? I recently just purchased a used 02 QX4. Thanks |

Re: Infinti Issue
If it's dependent on the steering it's going to either be the power steering pump belt or the power steering pump. Likely the belt.

Re: Infinti Issue
Thanks for the info.
I hear this noise mainly at startup.... it only happens when the ignition turns on for a second. The only other time I hear this noise is when I am turning the wheel to the left or right, so for example when I am pulling out of a parking spot. Would this kind of repair be expensive? |

Re: Infinti Issue
Quote:
When the steering wheel is turned over full lock the pressure in the power steering line is at it's max and it's quite a substancial amount of pressure. The power steering pump creates a lot of drag when trying to push this much pressure to the point where it can cause a loose belt to slip causing the squeal.

Re: Infinti Issue
Yeah just hope that your PS belt is loose, all you need to do is tighten the belt via tensioner bolt
