Swap, check engine light, any ideas?

So I swapped my oil burning D15B2 for another D15B2 from the junk yard... droped it in with an Si tranny i picked up from the yard as well, and now im getting a check engine light after driving for a few minutes. it hasnt come on so far while idling... i checked the ECU for any codes, and the red light blinks every 3 seconds or so. just once. seemingly for ever. any ideas or information that might help eliminate the engine light illuminating?

as for code 1 (if thats what the ECU is showing me, not just the fact that its on) then the issue seems to be the O2 sensor. does that cause the check engine light to come on or does it just make the ECU throw a beep?

either way the engine seems to run nice and the tranny blows away the dx version. thanks in advance guys, and i appreciate all the information ive looked up on here to help along the way.

That's exactly how the code 1 operates. The Check engine light won't come on initially but will after a bit of driving, usually while slowing down. Are you sure it's plugged in? If not, replace it w/ a new one from autozone..they're about $17 I think.

Re: Swap, check engine light, any ideas?

well the terminals are all covered with water proof grease, maybe the connection isnt that great. ill look into it. o2 sensor is a breez to replace anyways. any other ideas/info/experneces with this problem would be appreciated!

Update: I checked the connector on the O2 sensor and its fine, all the wires look good, and its all connected. i havnt had the chance to go for another drive yet but ill get around to it today and post if the check engine light remains. i can always pull the O2 off my old motor anyways.

Well, try resetting the ecu first by removing power for a couple minutes. If you still have the code, then check for continuity between pin C16 @ the ecu (o2 sensor) and the o2 sensor wire (white). It's one solid wire, so it should have continuity. You can check the voltage too. Off the top of my head I think it's supposed to be between .5v - 1v. If it's not, it's defective. Swap it out for your old one that you KNOW works at that point.

Re: Swap, check engine light, any ideas?

well i unplugged it and bent the connectors down a bit so i know there will be good contact and reset the ecu and the light hasnt come back and the ecu isnt throwing any codes. i called the honda dealer for a price on a new o2 sensor and they quoted me $240. haha what a pile of ... good thing i got a backup and this one seems to be working good! great suggestion to double check the connection bam bam.

I don't recall ever hearing such a ridiculous price for an 02 sensor

Honda dealers always charge up the ass. The one here charges i think 210 for an o2. If your set on getting an OEM o2 sensor order from Hondaautomotiveparts.com, i think they are only like 120 bucks. IMO get a bosch one from autozone like bambam said.
