Wagon tranny compared to Sedan tranny

Hey guys,
Just curious, was the 700-R4 in the station wagon Caprices more heavy duty than the ones in the Caprice sedans if the engines were identical?

Re: Wagon tranny compared to Sedan tranny

No Problem!

However, the wagon only had the 700R4 up through 1985. Beginning in 1986 and continuing through 1990, the wagons got the TH2004R as these also got the Olds 307 engine (why, oh why, did it have to be this way?).

In fact, the only Caprices between 1986 and 1990 that came with the TH700R4 were either the heavy Brougham and LS models, and the 9C1. Standard civilian Caprice and Classic cars got the 2004R.

Re: Wagon tranny compared to Sedan tranny

So I guess I'm lucky I have an '84, that way I have the 700 R4. However I think I recall there being problems with the 700 R4's from before '86.
