I have a 94 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD 5spd, when I bought it, I knew it had a bad alternator and I went through 5 batteries to make the 175mi. trip back home, replaced the alternator, then did a tune-up with platinum plugs and new plug wires, then the starter took a shit so I replaced that and all I have left to do is find what I believe is a vacuum leak. I checked all the vacuum lines off the PCV and boost controller. I sprayed carb cleaner at various spots on the intake still no change. I want to get this car running perfect before I start modding it. It has a RPM sure at all RPMs at idle it is between 620 and 690 and it even does it at highway speeds if I set the cruise. I get HORRIBLE gas mileage and you can smell the exhaust is running rich as hell. The A/F gauge rarely comes off the rich side, it has a blow off valve, an Air/Fuel controller wired into the ECU I dont think it does anything though. A lot of my friends say this is common on most DSM's

Re: Help, I just bought my first DSM
Boost leak. www.vfaq.com shows how to make your own leak intake tester.
Also turbo cars don't like platinum plugs. Just use a regular plug. |
