Re: Tachometer

If you want to splice the wire for your car's stock tach, its the blue wire behind your cluster on the left clip. If your car has a stock tach, however, i'd say keep the stock one and dont add an extra tach.

red - power
green ?
black = ground
white = switched power (headlights)
red = constant +12v Power
green = tach input signal (blue wire on two-wire plug @ distributor)

Re: Tachometer

i have one in my car if you put the red to constant power it will be on all the time, put the red to an accesory (spade connector on the under dash fuse box) with and the white is just for the lights like your headlights (wire behind dimmer knob). make sure you fuse it.

Re: Tachometer

alright, its all hooked up but theres a problem...
its saying that my rpms are a lot lower than they acctually are
for example...
my idle rpm showed is 0 and when im at 4000 rpm it says im at 2000 rpm.

any idea how to fix this or should i just be looking for a new tach?

the shift light and the back light are working as well.
could it be a loose connection on the blue wire? it jumps around when the engine is at idle speed...

Re: Tachometer

oh, ok.
it wasnt a bad connection.
inside if the tachometer is a switch that was set saying that the car that was giving the signal was a V8. i just switched it to a 4 cylinder reading and now it works perfectly. ill have to remember that for next time.
