Engine Died But Is It Dead
I have a 1996 Blazer with a v6 vortec 4.3L and I have had a tap in the motor for some time but never any problem with performance. As i was driving the other day the tap seemed to turn to a rap and then a clunk and the truck died on me. It goes to turn over but it ounds realy soft like it has no compression. Do you guys think that the engine is salvagable and if not does anyone have or know of a v6 vortec in New York for sale.

Re: Engine Died But Is It Dead
Often that tap was a leaking lower intake getting water on the lifters and if left for awhile the cam can go or the main bearings. But do you have spark and fuel pressure? Are the plugs wet? Dist turning? Work thru it but it didn't seize so might be OK.
