Re: mayo in header tank

It depends on how much mayo you found.

Mayonaise tpye substance in a cooling system is caused by oil getting into the cooling system.

If there is a lot of mayo, take it to a garage straight away, if its only a really small amount then I wouldn't worry too much but I would keep an eye on it.

Does the car heat up normally?

Re: mayo in header tank

freaked me out the first time i saw it too on my 91. but apparently our little engines collect alot of moisture in there after we shut them down, especially at night due to them cooling off so fast and not drying the air under the valve cover as bigger engines do. clean it out really well and monitor it regularly. as long as it's not a lot ,it should be ok. if it does gather really quickly, then check for oil in your radiator. if you have that, then a blown head gaket is to blame. good luck
