98 Silverado; Couple issues
I recently bought a 98 Silverado and I have a couple issues that I was wondering if anyone could help me out with.
First off, when I come to a complete stop my brakes feel like the anti lock kick in and the truck takes a lurch forward. This happens every single time I stop. Also when I switch it into 4 lo the truck makes a loud clunk noise. It did not make this noise when I first bought it but just recently started doing it. Yes I do have it in neutral and I already changed U-joints on drive shaft. Has anyone had any of the same issues, if so does anyone know what the cause was? Thanks Rick |

Re: 98 Silverado; Couple issues
The abs should be scanned for codes and a possible ft sensor dropping out too soon, lots of ft whel sensor issues with that truck.. Clunk is just a matter of tracking down the source of the noise.

Re: 98 Silverado; Couple issues
Chevy has a recall on the ABS system for these trucks.. you may want to take it in to see if it helps.. I have not done it yet.. I always have the fear of them breaking something else so they can charge you for something.
Sounds like the transfer case.. I would get it check out quick. Can you tell where the sound is comming from? Front or below you?
