Heavy vapor smoke from exhaust pipe

I have a heavy smoke belowing from my exhaust pipe, but it smells like presstone? The engine start is not normal, it's difficult to crank over the engine. The vehicle is a 95 GMC Suburban 2500K 4x4 diesel. Should I drive it to the garage? or should it be towed? It sounds like colant has entered my engine and this sounds like a major problem. If anyone out there has experienced this problem I would appreciate feedback and what I should be looking at in terms of mechanical repairs.

Thanks so much

pat

Re: Heavy vapor smoke from exhaust pipe

Welcome to AF. Do not drive, this could be head gasket problems, either way engine damage is an issue. Any shop that does engine work can check for exhaust gasses in the cooling system to confirm the problem.
