Pulling a trailer 3.2L DOHC automatic 1500lb

I have a 94 trooper with 180,000 miles 3.2L DOHC Automatic that I would like to set up to tow a 500 lb trailer with a 1000lb load. I think the transmission was rebuilt at 160,000 miles. I was wondering if I was to add a electric fan to the transmission fluid after market cooler and a remote spin on filter with temperature guage that I could keep the transmission alive for another 100,000 miles. I belive that if could keep the transmission fluid between 180 to 200 degrees F it would have to help extend the life of the transmission. I live in south Texas where we see temperatures of over 100 degrees F.

how far are you looking to tow? 1500lbs is not much for a trooper.

I think they are rated at 3500lbs as their max towing abilities.

Looking at pulling the a trailer in the mountains on a 2000 mile round trip. I was worried about the transmission going out.

seeing that you installed an extra tranny cooler I wouldn't worry about adding more thing to the system.

One thing I would recommend is to not drive in the overdrive (D) position. On older GM Trans, it was found that in overdrive the trans pump did not move enough oil through the system to allow proper cooling when pulling a load , so driving in "3" was recommended. If you have the power mode option on your trooper, and it works, then the shift points are changed but I am not sure if that will help for long drives at constant highway speeds. One owners opinion.
