Missing Car Keys...

so last time i went down to see my CRX as it rests in peace, i remember leaving without my car keys because i locked them in and i would have to break in next time i went down to it (in the outdoor parking lot). i go back down 3 days ago to grab some tools from the back and after i break in i find that i only switched the lock to the "off" position so i do it again and open the door, the keys weren't in the ignition but all my tools were still in the back and cd's and remote to my deck. now either 1 of 2 things can be possible

1- i misplaced the keys
2- some grimey nigger jacked keys from a broken car

what would you guys do in this situation? i'm thinking posting up some "lost keys" signs but after that i'm most likely gonna buy a new ignition with a matching key, and either switch my door locks or shave handles and buy door poppers. what would you people do??

Re: Missing Car Keys...

If no one has replaced your ignition swtich (i.e. aftermarket), you can go to the dealer, give them your VIN and have them make you a key. I tried this once but it turned out my ignition switch had been changed so i was out like 8 bucks.

Re: Missing Car Keys...

thats a awesome idea. but also the door locks are different from the ignition, i needed 2 different keys for the car, one for the door, one to start it. and i never got the car from a Honda dealer, but it was a dealership (standard auto). I wonder why the door locks dont match the ignition, did you guys ever hear of that?

Re: Missing Car Keys...

Yeah if your door locks dont match the ignition, then the previous owner most likely changed the ignition switch. In that case, you wont be able to start it with the key the dealer makes for you. What ive noticed is that on most older Honda's with worn out door locks, you can pretty much use any Honda key and it will open. I always used to lock my keys in my old STD and would use my uncles CRV keys to open it. Crazy.

Re: Missing Car Keys...

Its possibel, but alot fo work, If your going to take the ignition out..and replace it later, why not just replace the damn thing now? And yes, the ignition key SHOULD open the doors as well, mine is aftermarket as well

there's codes on the ignition and door locks. If you can get them out, you can bring them to a locksmith and they can cut you new keys. The door ones are simple to take out, I know that much.

i suggest both of you stop by and vist:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...uidelines.html

we are doing a build where 1 car was wrecked (it never had matching keys) and 1 car had a siezed engine (previous owner lost ALL keys) and we're making 1 car. took the ignition from the wrecked car with the key that matched along with the cylinders from the other car down to the key guy. now everything works with 1 key on the car being built. i think it was like $30 to have it all done...i'm sure that varies at different lock smith's

now everybody play nice or i'm putting it on lock down

Re: Missing Car Keys...

i dunno if it makes me immature to have zero tolerance for racial slurs..i mean dude is sitting here calling ppl __ _ _ _ _ _ _ but he's the one leaving his keys and tools in his car in a prone area to theft.. guess that puts him in the -doing- "stupid dumb things" category too. lol im not overeacting or nething..just said what i needed to say..no biggie.. we got all walks of life in this forum..i notice ppl love knit picking at ppl who have bad grammar and or bad taste..yeah its fun to post a funny comment about what they have done or want done..but then its just plain ignorant to keep flamin these certain ppl..then theres ppl who go way overboard and then no1 has anything to say about it lol

FuLL BLown STD - I already talked to LadyNRedSi about it, and I am in the wrong. She can't tell 1 person to follow the rules and allow another to get away with breaking 1.
