sub box plan

Below is a plan I have for a sub box enclosure. Some of the measurments may be off, but they're pretty close. I'm planning on making a cardboard model based on the plan before I build the box. I've seen this similar plan work before, I just wanted some opinions on weather this is a good idea or not.

Basically I have the top view of the LEFT most side of the trunk. The top left photo, where it ends on the right, that's the cutoff of where the rear seats begin.

The right photo is obviously a side view, as well as the bottom photo. I would like the box to go under the trunks carpet, and have the carpet overlay the top of the box, so it looks like the woofer is popping out of the trunks floor. I just don't know if a woofer with a mounting depth of 4-9/16" would be too tight of a fit for a box with a depth of 5.5". This is only a 10" woofer.

I don't think you have enough box volume with only about 1 cubic foot of enclosed air...

Even for a non-ported 10" you should at enclose about 1.6 cubic feet of air at minimum (and even them the sub will sound like it's struggling)... You are going to have to get fancy and slant one of the sides to take up the entire left corner.

OK, well so far that's the best I could think of. I thought it was too small. Now, this is actually my first sub box, and I know I could go with just a simple first timers closed box, but I want to make this look fairly stock, and at the same time not take up a lot of trunk space. I was out at my car looking today with a paper and pencil for any ideas, and I'm drawing a total blank. The slant on one side is a good idea, but the corner of the trunk has too many curves. Maybe not for an experienced person, but like I said, this is my first time. So should I just go with a basic design for now, or is there something out there that isn't too difficult, but at the same time looks like it "flows".

hey..what i did for a sub box in my 98 3000gt..is take out the compartments underneath the floor on the left side of the trunk and built my box in to the ground with only the sub facing above it..the box is around 1.3 cubic ft. un ported for a 10" alpine and it sounds pretty good..i think go for your idea..

Different subs require differnt amounts of air. My 12 is recommended to only have 1 cf of air in a sealed enclosure.

I think what jeff is saying is what I want. Jeff do you have any photos or if possible, plans from when you built this box? My sub is only said to need .75Cf in a sealed box, which I suppose I got lucky to require such a small box. But if you can help me out on this in any way, just reply or PM me.

My sub box uses the small space between the back of the seat and the rest of the trunk... this still gives me a decent amount of trunk space without having to take out my spare tire. ive seen some that take up the entire trunk! yikes... and im running 2 10" subs...

What about fiberglass? It would be easier to conform to tight spaces, and be lighter. You can make the rear of the box fit into the side of the trunk, then build the flat parts out of MDF for extra strength.

well like I said, this is my first box, so I don't wan't something too difficult. I have no idea how to fiberglass, I just see it done on Unique a million times a day, lol. But if anyone has photos of their boxes, PM them to me so I can get an idea of something I wanna do.
