Any known Firebird problems?

I am at a crossroads.... trying to weigh my options of fixing my current vehicle (blazer) or getting something different.

If I choose to get something else, i have the option of getting a 94 v8 Firebird for roughly $4000 with 93k miles. But seeing as how I have had problems with cars I havnt researched, I thought I should look first.

Every car has its own flaws (ie, blazer and its cooling system crap, rx-7 and its finicky engines, dodges transmissions), and I was wondering if theres really anything with the firebirds from 94. Anything I should look out for when looking at the car? Any potential problems I should be aware of? What about maintainence: Smooth sailing? or difficulties on a sparkplug thats somehow hidden behind a steering column?

Is it something that could last awile? Or think something will go wrong every few months?

The driver side plugs are the easy ones. You can get the rears one's better from under the car. If the car is well maintained you should have no problem. If the car was beat on. The rear and opti are weak links. Other than that its a pretty dependable performance car.

Re: Any known Firebird problems?

Hello,
I just sold a 94 Firebird with the LT1 and electronic performance shifter option. Great running vehicle, but was just too much for the daughter and too much for my insurance bill. I purchased from my Uncle who blew the head gasket because the temp sensor went out and it overheated. After $1200 it was back on the road. Almost ran as well as my old 69 Charger. Mine had 94K miles on it and I sold it for $2900. I live in Ok with a less expensive economy. Needed paint and the plastic body components were rotting off. I would check them out. I also had to replace the window motors. Good luck.
