Unhappy oil shell

Anyone ever busted off the tangs on the oil filter shell? the service techs. tell me that this happens all the time. Just put a new gasket on and you are good to go. Still got some warranty left and I think they should buy me a new shell.

Re: oil shell

2004 LW series, 3.0 engine. Already been blown off on warranty. They don't even have one in stock near me. Gotta drive a hour to get a new shell. Here's to 4 day oil changes.

Re: oil shell

i always break them loose with a 15/16, and then use the 3/8 ratchet to take it off. but, if you got a new one, it probably doesn't have the 3/8 hole in it.
