Tuning

I'm looking to give my truck a tune. For a while I'm not going to have anything more than an exhaust/intake mod, so i wont be needing to tune anything too crazy. My goals are to increase gas mileage as much as possible, as well as firm up shifts and other minor changes like speed limiter. My question is what should i look into. money is a factor so right now im looking at doing a mail in pcm swap with Jesse at Wait 4 me tuning. i heard this only costs $80 or so.

Also, if cost per mile is my biggest concern, should i do an 87 octane tune (they claim 1-2 mpg increase) or a 93+ octane tune (they claim 2-4 mpg increase)...doing some rough calculating, if i were to get 1 mpg inc from the 87 octane, but 4mpg inc from the 93, i would be better with the 93...so what have people experienced with their different tunes for different octanes?

thanks

Re: Tuning

I have the superchips tuner on my 4.8L and it works great. Didn't see much difference in gas mileage, but as far as shift firmness, shift points, rev limiter, etc. it works wonders. I prefer it over the hypertech and i've had both on the same vehicle.

Re: Tuning

Hi,
Just got a tuned PCM from Jesse and so far I love it. Haven't seen much of an increase in MPG yet, but i've been doing a lot of WOT runs so I didn't expect it to improve. I also replaced a dragging rear caliper tonight. Hopefully this week I'll be more used to things and can keep my foot out of it long enough to see some gains.

Re: Tuning
