85 4Runner intermittant sputter and die
I was sure it was the fuel pump but I replaced it twice. I want to rule it out with a fuel pressure test. Where can I get fittings to put in a fuel pressure gauge?
I seem to be getting spark when it dies and won't start again so it has to be fuel related. Changed the fuel filter. The only other thing I can think of is fuel pressure regulator? Is there some kind of computer in these early Toys that can tell me anything? Need help here. It ran good after the second fuel pump replacement so I thought I had a bad pump the first time but now its screwing up again. |

Re: 85 4Runner intermittant sputter and die
Can you smell gas back near the firewall on the passenger side?
If so, then your fuel rail dampener is bad assuming V6. You will need around 45lbs to 50lbs driving, Instrumenting this is a dangerous undertaking if you do it wrong it will result in a fire and loss of truck shop and or home. There are banjo fittings available to do this I won't however explain how this is done, just too risky and is NOT cost prohibitive to have the pressure checked, make sure they do a road test while monitoring the pressure. There is also the fuel regulator on the fuel rail. Good luck |
