Engine Stalls - LeSabre93 Custom

It is a mystery that we would like to solve, but don't know how. My wife drives this car the most and in the last 4 to 5 months it has stalled 2 times. It happens without any warning of the engine light, it just feels like it won't move and shakes like crazy, it smells like something is burning. The mystery is that it had happened at about 2 miles from home the two times and when she gets home she explains it to me I go to the car the burning smell still there and I check the engine compartment don't see anything, turn it on drive it around and everything is fine. I have been driving it more to experience it myself, but so far no luck. If any one of you out there has any idea as to what to check, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

Are there any missing cats in the neighborhood?

Seriously.. kindof tuff..
Need more checks here.

It could be from battery cable to whatever...
  • Run it in the driveway while monitoring it may help.
  • Check the codes .
  • A serious inspection may find the source of the smell.
Maybe a subscriber may post a similar problem that may help.

Good Luck

Is the burning smell coming from inside the cab or in the engine compartment? Could be a loose electrical connection that is heating up.

Possibly the torque converter lock-up is going bad and is not disengaging. I would expect that there would be a code for that though. May want to check to see if it has any codes.
