engine tends to shut down when tank is full

Hello all!

I have '94 Cavalier VL 2.2L standard. I've noticed when the tank is full, the engine tends to shut down especially when I turn on the A/C.

As the tank becomes emptier, performance improves and the problem goes away!?!?

I use 89 octane gasoline and always fill up the tank to full.

My guess is that either fuel filter or fuel pump is causing this. Does anyone know what exactly is going on here???

Thanks for your help!

Peter

try switching to a new filter first as this is only a 5 min. and 5 dollar job.

if this doesn't fix it, your pump may be going out, but don't take my word as gosple.
