arg problems!

1.ok so today i was doing my front 2 brakes , i repearied them and it was an in and out thing , i also added some brake fluid , and then after testing the brakes they work fine but the "Brake" light in the dashboard wont turn off!!
wuts going on?

2.i was doing my spark plugs(see question below) and as i was changine my front plugs i noticed a leak of a light green fluid running down from the middle of the tranny , looks like radiotor fluild, maybe its a cracked hose? anyone had this happen to them?
ill try to take a pic tommorow :/

3.i did my front 3 sparkplugs today then i noticed that i had to take the car apart to get to the other 3... well in the team3s faq is says to change the gaskets well u only have to do that if they look damaged right?
anyways ill do the other 3 tommorow...

hope to get that leak under control and that brake light duno wuts up with that...

good news though all my other maintance came out without any problems!

Re: arg problems!

The antifreeze is more than likely a bad hose or a loose fitting somewhere. As for the brake light, if you filled up your brake fluid resevoir it may be a sensor for your e-brake.

Re: arg problems!

You need to change the upper intake gasket when you do the plugs. If you don't you're just asking for a leak.

Re: arg problems!

Just tell the dealer that you're changing you plugs and you need the correct intake gasket.

Re: arg problems!

auto zone has the gasket for like 28 bucks.. just go ask for a intake manifold gasket.. it will come with a upper and two lower ones.. dont worry about the lower ones... about the brake light.. did you bleed the brakes?

so now u say intake manifold... what about the other gaskets they ask for in the faq... i dont feel like changing anything unless i find them to be worn or broken...

then you shouldn't have purchased a high performance sports car. its as simple as that.

these cars require maintenance. you can either do the maintenance and have your car run. or you can NOT do the maintenance and the car will break. wouldn't you rather replace a part before it breaks, as opposed to having it break and your car not be able to run and replacing it after the fact?

just my , but what do i know, i've only owned an operated one of these cars for 4 years.

Re: arg problems!

This has always been how I replace my plugs. With practice I can now change all 6 and have everything back together in a bit over a half hour.

See #19 in the pic, that is what you need to change. I'll be honest, I don't always change it, for instance if I pull the manifold 20x in a month trouble shooting something else, I don't change it 20x. However, if you don't know hte last time it's been changed, I'd change it. Otherwise you are asking for boost leaks..which suck. I think I get mine at www.thepartsbin.com orders over $50 are free so I usually try and group some purchases I need together.

The brake light means 1 of 2 things. Either your e-brake is engaged, or you are low on fluid. If neither of these is the case, start looking at the sensors. I can check the manual and post up directions for that later. Although I highly recommend buying your own service manual cd off ebay for $30. They are so worth it. If you have already bled the brakes, then I doubt it's an air pocket by the sensor...but I guess that is still a possibility to keep in mind.

Check your coolant level. Keep an eye on it over hte next few days, and ask check for puddles or nasty smelling burnt coolant. Probably just a cracked radiator pipe, so it wouldn't hurt to start looking for it.

Re: arg problems!

I didn't see it, but you need to learn to shop around. Norco Mitsubishi has the TB gasket for $1.78.

Re: arg problems!

Um, you don't need the throttle body gasket if you don't remove the throttle body. You never have to if you use the directions I linked to up above.
