curious
im gettin really into camaros (93-2002 style), but there is one problem. Im in high school. I would like a mid-late 90s camaro, but im sure the insurance will be outrageous for a 17 yr old male, even though i have a clean record. I have an impala, which hauls ass, but i want something louder than the 3.8 i have (im thinkin 5.7). There are some good prices on ebay for some nice camaros, but i was just curious to ask a few camaro owners what their insurance runs for about a year (assuming clean history). If insurance is too bad, im probably going to jump off a cliff, because im fiendin for a camaro! Sorry i get a little psycho. Does anyone mind sharing what their insurance runs for a year, cause im really curious. BTW mine is about 900/yr.

Good luck.

I hate to break it to ya but your insurance will always be higher with that type of car. Especially since they see you as a teenage guy.

Re: curious
I'm 21 with no tickets and one accident, full coverage for me on my '98 v6 was ~1900 every 6 months. In my mom's name, it was ~800 ever 6 months. Now, in her name, it's $38x every 6 months liability.
When I was 19 and got my '92 RS I paid $168.10 a month liability. |

Re: curious
I am 27.
My Trans Am STILL get the performance surcharge added to it. ![]() Insurance at this point for a 17 year old guy will probably be more than the payment.

Re: curious
Let's see, 89 Trans Am titled under my dad's name, no tickets, no accidents (knock on wood) and 23 year old male comes out to be a little over a hundred a month. Funny, it costs more to insure my mom's 2003 neon sxt than my TA.

Re: curious
20 years in 5 days, clean record, reside in NJ. 2000v6 cost 80-ish/month under my mothers name with pretty much full coverage. If it were under my name, it'd be well over 2000/year.
One of MANY reasons why I want to move out of NJ and never look back once I'm out of College. |

Re: curious
34 & married, 1970 Camaro (when the bastard runs), full daily driver coverage lowest deductibles available, limited-tort - $245 every 6 months. Only issue is must pay for a certified appraisal to present to ins co in the event of a loss... otherwise they'll only pay me blue book... which wouldn't even buy a freaking new tire.
They also know it has almost no safety or security equipment and that it's a high-performance vehicle (454, etc). I guess I'm lucky for being in a county that's considered rural, although I'm within 35 minutes of Philly and Wilmington. Allstate... They've earned my loyalty. |

Re: curious
look at it this way: when you turn 21 it'll go down and whenyou turn 25 it'll drop again. In essence you'll be looking forward to a coupla raises in the not to distance future.
