Blown head gasket is only one possible cause of coolant loss, and it has its own set of quite obvious symptoms. All the light means is that the coolant is low.

Re: warning light

If you are a mkiii supra owner...you know that light like the back of your hand Can you guess the reason? Trust me keep that n mind. Check that out or plan for a new motor. Obviously, after you check for system leaks.

Re: warning light

The head gasket is only an issue if you are using a composite gasket. Change over to a MHG and you will have no worries. You should always try to diagnose things before throwing parts at them. Additionally a blown head gasket does not mean that you need to replace the whole motor. You just need to do the replacement.

Re: warning light

You should also know the recommended procedure for replacing with a metal head gasket is to machine not only the cylinder head but also the engine block. This also holds true if you want a rock tight seal for a factory replacement head gasket. You may be able to skate by if you diagnose the faulty head gasket early. That is why I am putting it in your head soo early. The more your warp the head and block the more $ you will have to pay. Most folks end up just rebuilding the block when the find out they have to machine the cylinder block. Get a tester to check to see if you have combustion gases in your coolant. After checkiing for leaks, of course.

Trust me on this one we keep an eye for that light...like its the devil in the making. If u do not believe me, check supraforums and supramania. Type in BHG and you will see about 4000 posts. If you do not have any leaks and your coolant is blowing out the reserve tank, hear a waterfall behind the dash upon startup or just coolant mysteriously disappearing... get that tester. People replace their radiators, thermostats, hoses to find out that the head gasket is bad. Add some coolant and update us with what is happening.
