'94 2500 failed smog test - Help !

'94 Chevy truck 2500 4X4, 5.7 L V8, AT, Short bed, Xcab. It failed for high hydrocarbons 220 is upper limit and I had 245-250. I have tuned it up and new plugs also new alternator and water pump.
Can anyone give me some pointers to pass the test ?
My mileage is only 111.5k miles.

Well I drove about 3 miles to the check station first thing in the AM. The line was soooo long I shut it off a couple times while waiting, I guess the temp guage was reading normal, but not all the way up when I started the test.
Idle was reading around 670-720 RPM. I have cleaned the fuel injectors in the past, they weren't very dirty. I guess my mistake was getting the leaky exhaust repaired !! I did like that VRROOMM sound under the cab, almost reminded me of hot rodding when I was a teen.

How can I determine if the truck is running rich or lean ?

Was it fully warmed up, this is raw fuel in the exhaust, so high fuel pressure, rich running engine, misfire, loaded evap cannister, bad o2 sensors, leaking injector, bad coolant temp sensor keeping it in the rich cycle are all issue here. A full scan and check fuel pressure are starters.

Hoooo - Raaaay ! for the AF guys !!

I ran some Sea-Foam through the system, got lots of white smoke. Ran out that tank of GAS. Then re-filled with Chevron Super Techroline. I also drove highway speed for about 15 minutes before the test.

Passes like a charm, no problem at all...
