Accord Clock Light

1998 Accord EX, The light for my clock went out. I can remove the clock assembly but where is the light/bulb and how do I replace it?

Re: Accord Clock Light

I do not know what kind of clock you have on your 98, but if it is like mine 99, it is very easy. You said you removed the clock already.
In the back of the clock at the passenger side you will see a round opening and there you will see a sort of a round plastic thing with a slot for a scrwdriver. I am color blind but to me it looks like either grey or green. (Sorry for that description!). Make a quarter counter clock turn and carefully shake that thing (bulb in a socket) out. That tiny bulb is a dealer item. I bought it a week ago. But do not panic, it cost only $2.09.

Good luck!

Sam

Re: Accord Clock Light

I have similar problem for my 2000 Accord, my Hazard unit light went out and I went to the dealer and try to buy just the bulb, but they don't sell them. I have to purchase the entire switch. Very lame. Though people do sell the bulbs online like on ebay and etc.

Re: Accord Clock Light

The digital clock backlight burned out in my 2000 Accord. It was $1.96 at the dealer and easy to replace. P/N is S4000E H35505-S84-N01

"00accord44" posted nice instructions on replacement.

Re: Accord Clock Light

You can get them at radioshack. They are consider flashlight bulb so look under that section in the store, it will come with two long tails and the bulb comes in pair. All you have to do is unwrap the bulb from the base-socket (round thing) pull the bulb out of its socket and re-wind new bulb in. This bulb works for Clock light, hazard switch, cruise control switch, foglamp switch, and sunroof switch. Bigger bulbs are for the heater panel and etc.

It's hard to find these bulbs even if you go to the dealer, they will say something supid like "you have to replace the whole unit."

That was the direction I went first, but Radio Shack in my area did not have them.

Did you look at the flashlight bulb section? They look like rice grain with about 2 inch tails. Comes in pair. You can take out the original bulb from the base and take it to the Radioshack. I'm sure they will find it for you.
