98 3000gt exhaust

hey..i have a 98 3000gt sohc..i just bought the borla exhaust system used on ebay..its not the full cat back just where it splits in to dual back..it did increase noise..and probly hp a lil..i am going to buy 2.25 stainless piping and create my own straight pipe from where the flex pipe is after the cat back to where my new borla exhaust is..this should increase performance even more..im wondering if i should upgrade the cat to a high flow one? any suggestions? i would appreciate any tips..thanks

jeff

Re: 98 3000gt exhaust

You want loud, run an open downpipe for a day. It's a very simple un-install(only 2 bolts) and it'll make your car very very very obnoxiously loud. Linebckr heard mine with the dp off and...it's loud.

Re: 98 3000gt exhaust

nah i think im ok on that open downpipe idea..lol..but any of you upgraded to high flow cats? and if so..notice the difference..i mean i can get one for 50$ from flowmaster..yes i still have 1 muffler remaining on the stock exhaust part..so once that is out..it should be good to go loud!!! thanks guys

high flow cat: are you sure it will still pass inspection with it? you could just get a testpipe/racepipe (straight pipe that replaces the cat) for $30, then swap the cat in only when you need to get it inspected.

Dude, I'd get a magnaflow high flow cat... I think that they can be had for like $50 and I think that they're guarenteed for life. Plus you won't have to worry about emissions testing, etc...
