Question 92 grand am with 3.3 weird problems

hello all...i have pretty good knowledge with cars specially the older ones...well i have a 92 grand am with 3.3 motor with 90'000 miles...hopfully some one can help me out ,bought the car back in 96 with 40'000 miles when we bought it,it had a small surging problem no big deal..its been a great car well the problem is now is you can start the car up and it'll run but when the motor gets warm/hot it will just flat out die like some one pulled the battery cable off and die and wont start back up until it cools down you could even have the car rev to 2 grand and still flat out die..this is a repeat problem once the car gets to a certain temp it will die...somtimes it will rev up and down and die....i have a few options i was maybe thinking the fuel pump, ign mod..coil pack just not sure looking for some hints tips...i've been real busy working lots of hours hardly no time lol... im taking a vacation and would like to get it road ready for the winter,i was going to go to the part store to go get some eather to see if it will start when it does it trick so see if it would fire off it,that away i could determine if its a fuel problem or under the hood well sorry for the long story just wanted to inform as much as i could..any help/hints/tips would be greatly apreciated thanks

Were there any trouble codes? When it refuses to start, have a helper crank the engine, while you check for spark at the plugs and injector pulse.

I would check for any trouble codes that might be stored.
If you get a code Post it and we'll go from thier.

Your car is OBD I , thiers a section on performing this( in the Gramnd Am section- trouble codes) its pretty easy and could give you something thats causing the trouble.

It does sound like an ignition/fuel related prob, but could also be a vacum leak on the intake, or your engine control system is malfunctioning.

Sometimes its best not to try and guess what the trouble is, you'll just waste money doing that.
