16g install gone Wrong.

I started a thread a few weeks back when i got my 16g in the mail. Anyway this past weekend i finally had everything to install. Removing the old t-25 was not bad at all but installing the new oil lines for the 16g was a royal pain. I was supposed to leave the existing lower half of the oil line intact and connect my braided line to it. Im not to proficient in fittings but it did not fit right. I had no clue what to get to make it work. After debating a few hours i went out and bought some sort of fitting to go into the block to get the oil and plugged the lower oil line.

Oil line done. Well what else can go wrong...... Then i get to the intercooler piping off the j-pipe. Well after hacking my stock one on there, reconnecting a few things i was ready for a test drive. Took the car out and now it wont go past 10psi. I adjust my mbc and still wont past 10psi but it has a spike to 15 when it starts to boost. Ok.. not so bad. Prob a boost leak. I figured it would get me back home (installed by my uncle's house 35 miles away). Well i drove about 2 miles when i completly loose boost after 5 psi. After pulling over. The Rubber crap intercooler pipe had a nice sized cut in it. I still drove it home not boosting at all.

The only positive is that im not going to spend money buying a ic pipe from the stock ic to the 16g. Excuse for a front mount. . Any suggestions. I cant make my own piping. And Exhaust shops around here only press bend. So it is going to have to be a full kit.

Re: 16g install gone Wrong.

You blocked off the lower oil line? What the hell were you thinking? Better throw a new turbo on that shopping list of yours.

If I had to buy a FMIC kit it would be the SBR one.

Maybe i Didnt specify. I Blocked off the lower one and used a line off the block to supply the oil to the turbo.

Re: 16g install gone Wrong.

That is still unclear, is there a supply and a return line coming off the turbo? If not you better get one and hope you didnt fuck it up.

Re: 16g install gone Wrong.

Do you or do you not have both a oil feed and a oil return line coming off the turbo? Your desciption is vague as hell an that link does nothing to answer my question. From your first couple posts I get the impression you are running only and oil feed line and you plugged the oil return hole on the bottom of the turbo. If you infact did this, kiss that turbo good bye.

Re: 16g install gone Wrong.

you're not getting enough oil pressure if you're sending the oil from the head. Thats where people tap for a BB turbos. Stop driving the car and try to find a local DSM'er who can help.

Im in NYC. I know noone around here. Why does everyone say i can tap into the head for sufficient oil flow for a 16g. Thor do not worry. i Have an oil feed and drain.

who is everyone? Tap it from the filter. If you have an SS feed line it's very easy.

Post on tuners in the local forum and see if someone can help. NYC has a good dsm community.

Re: 16g install gone Wrong.

Oil from the head will work fine, it has the same pressure as anywhere else. Thats where 1gs stock get oil for the 14b

Re: 16g install gone Wrong.

Oil pressure is bad for turbos... Those first time turbo installs are fun arn't they? Next time just buy the right kind of fittings. 18in 3/8in to banjo fitting feed line for the head/turbo. Or 28in 3/8in to banjo fitting line for 2g filter housing to turbo..

Check the accuator arm, might be stuck.. Good luck..

Thanks for the info. But how do check the actuator arm?
