Auto to Manual questions

i have a 99 prelude base model and i have been toying with the idea of doing the swap but i can not seem to find any info of other people who have done the swap and i cant seem to find the manual tranny anywhere by itself all i can seem to find is the jdm engine and transmission packages and i dont need a extra engine haha if anyone can toss me some useful advice as to where i can get the transmission and the other things needed for the swap i would greatly appreciate it

Re: Auto to Manual questions

Parts needed - transmission (duh), clutch pedal assembly, shift linkage, clutch master cylinder and shifter assembly. I put on add on a parts finder site (not sure which one, its been 3 years) and I got everything for 220.00 shipped from a salvage yard in Canada (engine and transmission were purchased separately).

My advice- The physical swap isn't bad, but the wiring is a pain. All autos have a neutral safety lock that prevents the car from starting unless it’s in park or neutral. I had a mechanic wire my car so it is in perma-park, but it took a guy with 20 years experience working on Hondas 30+ hours to do everything (f22 auto to h22 5 speed), and most of that time was the auto to manual issues. At even 50.00/hour, which is way low balling what most people would charge, it would cost 1500 just in labor.

Why I choose to do the swap - I would have just sold my car, but it has a salvage title. I got into a mild accident (all cosmetic) and the insurance agency totaled my car because of the damage to worth ratio. I would have sold my car and bought one with a Manuel, but my cars worth was in the toilet, though it was paid for, so I could never get the value out of it that I think its worth. So I did what I had to to get a fast 5 speed. However, if I could of, or if I was in your shoes and my car had a clean title, I would just sell it and buy a factory 5 speed. Just my 2 cents, good luck with whatever you decide.
