Revell 288GTO
Hello All!
It has been almost 4 months since I last build a car. I had just started this about 3 weeks ago taking my time to build it as I recently had been busy with work and travelling to Mersing, Johor for site visits every week. It is a Revell kit. Got it early this year in UK. As you know, Revell kits are not easy and fittings are not that great but there are lots of details. It is a challange to build a Revell kit. For new modellers, you might get put off with it. Anyways, enjoy the pics. ![]() At this stage, I had just finished sanding down the body using sending cloth from 3600 grit to 12000 grit. ![]() These are the other parts that were sanded as well. The next step will be polishing with 4 or 6 other compound creams. ![]() Completed interior and engine ![]() Completed interior and engine Well, comments are welcome. I will post the complet model sometime next week. So, check in once in a while.

Re: Revell 288GTO
Looks great, especially the seats! This is one of my favourite Ferraris, along with the 250 GTO, Testarossa (the first one of course) and F40.

Re: Revell 288GTO
Great car - very clean build!!
I am impressed with your masking! How did you mask the seats, if I may ask? (I'm always trying to learn how to do this )

Re: Revell 288GTO
Very clean work!
Did you correct the wheel position so that they do not stick out of the body?

Re: Revell 288GTO
The fitness of the kit is as expected from Revell so overall I can say it is manageable. I did a little correction on the wheels but not too much as I was afraid it will sink into the arch. The musking of the seats was quite easily once you get the hang of it.
Following pics were taken just after compound polish but let the last compound cream for later. ![]() ![]() Once again thank you'all for your kind compliments .

Re: Revell 288GTO
Looks like a super paint job!
Was the seat masking done with tape?

Re: Revell 288GTO
Did those wheels come with the kit? They don't look very Revell-esque.

Re: Revell 288GTO
that thing is too perfect to go with the kit wheels...I think you should look at better wheels, like the tamiya F40 ones or some aftermarket. The kit wheels look like toys and ruin everything

Re: Revell 288GTO
Dear All,
Thank you all for your kind compliments and encouragement. Kultz, Masking was done after I had sprayed it red with Tamiya masking tape and then I cut the pieces out leaving the tape masking the red part. KTem, The wheel are from Revell. What I did was to remove the chrome from the rims and sprayed it Super Silver. I figured that the chrome from Revell is totally horrible. Jaymes, Thanks! I did thought about that but could not find any that will suit it. Besides I was too lazy to make any modification to fit the new rims in. The completed model should be posted sometime next week. So stay tune guys!

Re: Revell 288GTO
This is one amazing build. Very good work on the paint and I really love the seats.
I just started a 288 GTO from Italeri (in a Testors box) and from your pictures, it seems they are identical. You are waaay faster than I am, though. Looking forward to see more posts, I will use them as a tutorial for mine. Cheers Jens |
