Re: FirstCar
get a cheap, older car for your first car. when you are still learning, if you havent had a whole lot of driving experience, you will get in to accident, being at that age, you will have high insurance unless you have a lot of discounts. I know, i am 17, rolled one car and have been in 4 other accidents, a lot of kids your age up to 20+ get into a lot of accidents, get one with good saftey specs.

A b average usually, a 3.0 gpa or above, talk with your insurance company about any discounts you can get

Re: FirstCar
Mine is cheap because I get my parents discounts, they havent had any accidents in the last 5 - 10 years except my dad hitting a deer in his semi going to Omeha. That saves me about 150 - 200, i should soon have the good student discount, I had one for drivers ed and a saftey program, but the saftey program was dropped after my first accident. Its possible to go cheap even with an accident or two and a ticket

Re: FirstCar
Whatever you get, make sure it's cool - you gotta like it - don't get some p.o.s. cause it's cheap - be proud of your ride dude. Someday, and forever, you'll be saying my first car was a....
One more thing...as a new driver, you are about to enter the most dangerous time of your life, so be careful out there. no really.

Re: FirstCar
learn its limits before you mod it, learn how to drive the car before you give it more power making it harder to control, i will need to relearn when i switch to a rear wheel drive car like the 240 i am looking for, it will help

Re: FirstCar
I would have to say that the perfect first car would have to be somthing like a 92 or 93 Honda Civic Hatch back. Only for the reason that it looks cool, easy to drive, gets great gas milage and there are numerous after market parts for them. It's not going to blow the budget and you can pick one up for around 2-4 grand. Insurance will be cheaper becaue of the year and model. BTW a good student discount gave me a $200 break every 6 months.
I would't mod it out right away. LEARN TO DRIVE FIRST! If you want to mod the car wait for at least a year or two and start with the engine. Its every kids dream to deck the car out in stickers, spoilers, and rims and such, but a nice sleeper is a lot more fun.
