Slight coolant odor
Once in awhile, when I have the hood open and the engine (3.5L w 59k) is warmed up I get a slight odor of coolant. I'm really not having to add coolant, and I've had the coolant flushed. I've pulled the injector cover off and inspected the intake really closely, looked at the ends of the cylinder heads. I don't see any traces of coolant. Maybe there is a slight seepage at the radiator that gets kicked out when the fans come on? Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Re: Slight coolant odor
Yeah I get a similar smell, not very strong. Once and a while I can smell it after driving for a while and opening the hood. However, I've never had to add coolant (did have it flushed 20k miles ago) and I'm at 71k miles now. So many cars have a slight smell of coolant when you pop the hood when the engine's hot. I figure as long as it's only a very faint, nearly undetectable smell, it's ok. Might be wrong, but I don't have problems yet, unless you consider the temp. getting a little into the upper half of the gauge here and there when in stand still traffic in hot weather, but I know that's fairly normal too.

Re: Slight coolant odor
Yeah, I would guess a little radiator seepage at a seam or something, and then it would get blown around when the fans are on. I'd rather do a radiator than an intake or headgaskets. Probably an intake wouldn't be that bad either, but believe me, I never want to take the heads off this car.
