Coolant Pooling on Engine

I am having a coolant loss problem and it is pooling onto the top of the engine block under the supercharger. I have a 2001 GTP with 107k miles. On occasion when I make a hard right turn or stop fast I get steam from underneath the hood from the coolant spilling onto the hot trans as well as the hot engine underneath. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Check the coolant elbow just under the snout of the supercharger. It may have a small crack causing the coolant to spray out. They are not expensive at a dealer nor are they hard to change.

Re: Coolant Pooling on Engine

You may want to check your lower intake manifold gasket also. I just did a similar job on a friends 96 3.4 liter. The symptoms were idendtical to yours. I read on another pontiac forum, ***Edited Out by Moderator***, that it is a common problem if you run DexCool and then mix traditional green antifreeze in your system. It also went further and explained that the chemical makeup of DexCool is known to eat through the rubber on the lower intake manifold gasket sealing surface. You will likely find lower compression in various cylinders due to this gasket leak, yet your compression will return to normal or slightly higher readings once the gasket is replaced.
