Transmission Problems

1996 Jetta GLS 2.0 Litre. When starting from a cold start the transmission slips and then will shift rough to second gear. As the car warms up they appears to no issues. Is this related to the fact the tramsmission indicator light on the dashboard does not light up or this due to an electrical issue. Has anyone had a similar problem

Thanks

Re: Transmission Problems

The transmission filter should be changed every 60,000 miles and your fluid should be changed every 20,000 miles. Some people say 90,000 and 30,000 - I imagine it's probably ok. At any rate, changing the fluid will often help with slipping if it's been too long since the last change. It will also help prevent frying the transmission.
