99 Taurus Water Pump Replacement

Replacing my water pump in the morning. I haven't done anything this complex since I had a 77 Chevy. Things have changed a bit.

How does the tensioner pulley work? Do I just loosen the nut on the end or do I need to remove it completely?

I'm also going to flush the heater core. Which hose is in? From the water pump or from the thermostat?

Re: 99 Taurus Water Pump Replacement

Tensionser: It's spring loaded so take a wrench and put enough pressure on it to loosen the belt, slip the belt off and when you're ready to put the belt on do the same.

" I'm also going to flush the heater core. Which hose is in?" From the water pump or from the thermostat? In hose on the heater core is the lowest one but on the radiator it's the top hose. If you flush the radiator and leave the heater control on hot it will circulate through the heater core so you kill two birds with one stone.
