Post Making off – Benetton B188 – (*Progress Pics*)

This one was in my waiting list for quite some years.
This is one of the most beautiful F1 cars ever, not only because of is unique shape but especially for
it’s beautiful colour scheme. The body is painted in 5 different colours: black, yellow, blue, green and red.

First I started with the engine cover.

I used 2 light coats of primer (just to break the green from the body plastic) and 3 coats of paint for every colour. First a light coat, and then two medium coats.
Mask was made using Tamiya Masking tape and the rest of the body was protected with newspaper.

The result:

I will have to do some small corrections but the main work on this part is done.

AHA, the B-188, 1988 Worldchampion of the non-turbo cars. I've started it some years ago with some wild super detailling ideas but got stuck in the engine area .

HAven't even got to the bodywork stage.

Your paintjob looks very good, Gainsbourg. If you need pics for extra detailling, let me know. I can scan them for you.

Good luck with the proceedings and keep the progress pics coming.

Post Making of – Benetton B188 – (*Progress Pics*)

It was all made with Tamyia spray cans.
TS-23 Light Blue, TS-8 Italian Red and TS-16 Yellow.
Primer was Tamiya White Primer.
As I only applied light and medium paint coats I have applied two coats per day.

Thx huudo, but this one will be a straight from the box.

No great update due to excess of work.
Finished the back and front wings and the front suspensions.
No putty on stock so I can’t finish correcting the front session to paint it.
I’m currently working in the Ford engine.

Looks great so far. Do you mean you will actually fill in the gaps created by the 2 seperate body parts shown on you picture? That's what I did. Anyway, good luck with the engine! It's there where I got stuck... But seeing your pictures... Yes the B188 will be next after the 3 Mercs wil be finished.

It will take some 2 or 3 weeks possibly.
Finally I’ve buy some putty and corrected the gaps in the front session.
I will take at least one and a half-week to finish paint it (2 colours down 3 to go).
Finished today the Ford engine.

It was not so easy as I initially tough. It has some meticulous paint steps but nothing to difficult.
I’m continuing to finish paint the body and start the construction of the cockpit.
Probably time also so sand the tyres and apply the decals on them.

That really looks nice, I always wanted to do that car. I guess the green would be Park Green by Tamiya right?

Still looking good, very nice engine detail painting you got there. And I like the exhaust colour. What colours did you use there?

Keep going man!
