i think Ignition switch
97 blazer shifter on floor truck runs fine but it wont down shift i have to do it and on the highway it seems like its driving in 3rd i got a ce light but do not have the codes i think one was something with the tcc and the others where something 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 when this hapens the key also wont come out please help thank you to everyone that helps

Yep, first thing is the ignition switch (really the module in the column but thats what they call it) and then the shifter has an adjustment on the trans where the cable connects and they sometimes do need adjustment and there is a procedure in the book.

ya thats what it was on mine, ignition switch. its nice because its easy to replace, but it cost a damn fortune, 200 bucks for the switch. your best bet is to go to a junk yard and get one. unless you want to pay full price and get the warranty.

Bought one for a 97 Blazer six months ago for $95.00 with warranty at Advanced Auto Parts.......

hmmm, maybe it was closer to 100, first price that i rememberd was 200. i could be wrong on that though
