Auto Eclipse GS vs. manual SOHC non-VTEC Civic
I know this ins't a very interesting match but I own a Eclipse and I have a friend who has a red non-VTEC Civic.He is always saying we should race but the one time we raced he didn't give me a fair race because he let off the throttle after first gear and I blew past him but that totally does not count.Now he wants to wait till he gets his exhaust before we race again.His car is completely stock ecept aftermarket rims.My car has Magnaflow catback and K&N but thats all(for now).So anyhow,I'm just wodering if my DSM could take his Honda.

non VTEC Civics should not be raced.
Sorry, but Honda never intended them to be Performance models, and so they are tuned accordingly. i.e. Soft suspension, and an engine designed to get good economy and produce low emmisions. The perfect car for getting the shopping and taking the kids to school. Not stop light drag racing. Feel free to race anyone you want, but don't be surprised when you get beaten by most cars on the raod.

Acually,Moppie,I'm the one who owns the Eclipse but thanks for your reply.I've always thought that about the non-VTEC Civics but my friend always argues with me about it.I'm going to print this out and show it to him so maybe for once he will stop talking smack about my DSM. p.s. What mods do you have on your Honda? :grey:

Yeah your totally right,Moppie,non-turbo Eclipses are slow as molasses when stock.And the autos are even slower.I wish I could have gotten a GST or GSX but with my driving record,the insurance would have been off the roof!I do,however,plan on doing more upgrades.But I have to go slow because I'm only a cashier at a local grocery store so I do not make that much money.I hope at the end of this month I will be gettiing a new AEM cold-air induction system and a header installed.Would you have any idea what kind of brand/type of header I should get?I posted this question on the Eclipse forum but got few responces.None that helped.I'm thinking Borla or Greddy.Any suggestion would be appreciated.
