Unhappy Adding Amp to OEM Radio - Big Minor Problems

I just installed a amp to a 2004 LT. Truck has a base cd/cassette radio, no amp, no rear radio, no Bose. I installed a profile 740 amp 4 channel 60 watts. The main problem is I can not find anything that is connected to the RAP (retained acc power). The manual said the windows, sunroof, and radio will stay on for about 20 minutes. The radio is hot all the time, the sunroof fuse is also hot all the time. (do not even have sunroof). I need a safe place in the rear fuse block to get the amp turn on power. I WANT THIS AMP TO WORK WITH THE RADIO.

If I connect the amp turn on wire to a hot ignition feed the ampifier will only work with the key on. I want it to work as it did before adding the amp.

Second problem. I now have no tone warning, because the amp is turned off.
Without the amp on, no audio is passed to the speaker. There are many features I lose because of this.

I can wire a small speaker to the LF speaker line at the low level converter to the amp. This will give me a tone, but I would rather fine a way to have the amp come on instead.

One last thing how can I mount the amp under the rear seat, with out crushing it. I don't want to mount the amp on the back of the back seat, it will get damaged.

Re: Adding Amp to OEM Radio - Big Minor Problems

I am guessing Joel will chime in on this one too i hope.
if it was me i would look at the wiring diagram (which i just have) and tie it into the rear window motor wiring DEPENDING on the draw. i would then mount the amp under the drivers seat on an aluminum plate (to disapate heat) you can use 2 aluminum angles possibly 2"X2"Xwhatever length you need. drill 3 holes in it on both legs (legs are the flat parts of any angle stock) attach the plate to it and to the under seat area where ever you can with the amp facing away from the cushion.
this should give you power for your amp a nice mounting and a field break incase you have rogue EMF's the aluminum plate will break those fields and avoid problems with other systems.(we did this often on fords with a bad wiggle test near the EECI modules).
hope this helps somewhat.
