Which is better (MR2, RX-7, Eclipse)
Hello,
I've been researching these three cars and wondering which engine 3SGTE, 13B, or 4G63 has the most potential for the stock internals? I'm aiming at least getting 400hp to the crank. Thanks |

i would recommend the eclipse because it is a good looking car with such potential as far as engine power goes and they can accept some really insane turbos. the RX7 is cool too but only if u have the money to maintain a rotary engine which is quite a bit more than a regular engine. and the eclipse is also the cheapest one too!!!:ylsuper :ylsuper :ylsuper :ylsuper :ylsuper

i would suggest you buy the rx-7 if you can afford to maintain it because they have a tendency, when you turn up the boost, to detonate themselves to death and they have oil comsumption problems. the mr2, turbo that i truly do love (i love my mr2 turbo), is super strong but the stress of 375 + hp can start causing problems in the bottom end, of course this is not always true because my friend has on with the stock bottom end and it is doing fine at 390hp, i replaced mine when i hit 350hp. the eclipse can support some massive turbos but be prepared to buy a lot ot transmissions because anything over 350hp and the eclipse starts eating them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.:alien2: :alien2: :alien2: :alien2: :alien2: :alien2: :alien2: :alien2: :alien2: :alien2: :alien2: :alien2:

Yeah all the cars mentioned have awesome power potential, but they will all be less reliable when you start getting 400 hp out of them. The Eclipse would probably be the cheapest to mod to get to your goal, but I'd be worried about crankwalk on the 4g63. Like mentioned above I love my MR2 but as for reliability thats another story. Once my car finally gets put back together I should be pushing 400+ wrhp, but it wont be a daily dirver anymore. It also depends on what your gonna be using the car for. Im assuming you want a 1/4 mile drag car. In that case the RX7 or the Eclipse would be a better choice, for drag/auto x then the MR2 would probably be better although the RX7 handles well also.

i would add a 4th car to that list for about $5000 you can pick up a mk3 or a 87-92 supra turbo and make it have 400-500rwhp and havein it run 12's.
the car can be got for $2500 then turbo upgrade, hard pipes, intercooler, boost controller, 550cc inj, clutch flywheel, thicker tires and your there. alot cheaper than the big brother the mkiv but damn near the performance for no where near the price.
