2003 Taurus FFV Check Engine Light
Thanks guys for the info. I ended up taking the car to the dealership because it is still under an extended warranty, and they told me there was too much E85 in the gas tank and they added some HEAT to it and changed some type of sensor on the fuel tank because it wasn't calibrated correctly. The owner's manuel states to mix a 1/4 tank unleaded with 3/4 tank E85. After pointing this out to the service manager he said that is not right and don't go by what the owner's manuel states. Is he kidding me? Why bother to print the owner's manuel if the owner should not follow the manuel.
He proceeded to tell me to only fill up with E85 when they guage reads and 1/8 tank. Like I watch the guage all time. It's cold up here now and the whole purpose I keep filling up is to have a full tank at all times. I will post the code as soon as I get the paperwork. Thanks again. Mindy |

Re: 2003 Taurus FFV Check Engine Light
We have had quite a few of the FFV vehicles and have had better luck with under 60% E85 in the tank. We had drivers top off at around 1/2 tank and alternate between unleaded and E85. Got rid of the E85 pmp so now we run only unleaded. Not worth the cost or hassle of it.

Re: 2003 Taurus FFV Check Engine Light
ford has a message out about this - if you change frequently from e85 to gassoline the vehicle has a hard time calculating the changes. if you are changing fuel types you need to be as low as possible. as for frequent fuel ups they mess up the level calculations. you should let at least 1/4 tank to fall before fueling to prevent this. AND ALWAYS FUEL WITH THE KEY OFF

Re: 2003 Taurus FFV Check Engine Light
I appreciate everyone's help, I have decided I dont want the hassle anymore, so Im just using unleaded. The price is my area with the discounts is about 2.05 with E85 running about 1.88, not a big difference.
