Angry Amazed

I totally blown away by the way G.M. has this intake gasket issue still going on. It wasnt just one model year, but by looking at all IDLE postings on this site alone, its looks like it being going on atleast 6 or 7 years.
Its sad all of us hardcore G.M. guys have been spent a heck of alot of cash on a simple GASKET!!!

I've known a few of those 3.8 Fords with bad head gaskets. One of them was in a '95 Taurus that my best friend had. He took it to Berge Ford here in Mesa to have the gaskets replaced, mucho $$$, two months later engine overheated and had bad gaskets again.

He's a died-in-the-wool Chevy guy now, although he did have an '02 Malibu with a 3.4 that had bad intake gaskets. Now he has an '06 Silverado.

Re: Amazed

Just put in the Fel-Pro "problem solver" intake gasket set and loctite the lower intake bolts at 10ft lbs and you'll never have to worry about them again..

Re: Amazed

Ford at least tends to make good on things like the 3.8 liter head gaskets. The offer was that they'd replace any head gaskets on motors with less than 100k on them. It was popular with the dealers as many mechanics could "beat the clock" on the replacement and they really made out well. Any used car with a 3.8 motor that passed through as a trade in automatically got fresh head gaskets.

Now if GM would fess up and take care of the problem, it would be nice since the problem is so widespread.

Ford also had intake problems.
They had to have a class action suit to even taake care of some of them.
But they weased out on many of them. to old or mileage was there excuse.
Also they weaseled out on many od the 3.8 head gasket problems to.
