PCV valve rattle

I have a rattle at ldle on my 1998 blazer. I found out that it was the PCV valve. so I put a new valve in it and it does the same thing. what else could cause this valve to rattle? I checked for vacuum at the hose and it seems to be ok.

They normally rattle and is a good thing.

It shouldn't be too loud, but some noise is good.

It is when they don't rattle that you know you have a problem.

Re: PCV valve rattle

The throttle cable hold down on the intake is plastic and they break and the cable contacts the PCV so you hear it - use a zip tie and move the cable back away and its fixed. Make sure the PCV hoses are good and the grommet is not really loose also as well as that the vac line that also plugs into the same PCV intake port is good.
