No start

The car had been running fine and then it would not start. When I got it to start it turned over normally. Now there is no noise when I turn it over. I have replaced the cap and rotor. I am wondering if there is a charging problem. I can compression start it though. If anyone has any ideas can you help me out. Thanks.

If the engine does not turn over at all when you turn the key then I would check the battery and/or alternator...if you notice all your interior lights and what not dimming really bad when you try to start then chances there is an issue with the alt or battery (check terminals for cleanliness or have both tested to make sure the battery is charged and the alt is working properly)...

If your engine is turning over then make sure you have the correct firing order...if you switched a wire it will keep turning but won't start...

It could really be alot of things...try and narrow it down some and it will make it easier to tell what it is!

Hope this helps!

Re: No start

Does your lights come on and everything? If your battery is charged good, and all it does is click: #1: check all connections and make sure they are good. #2: If it still only clicks, try checking your starter relay, its located under the dash above the hood release I believe.

Re: No start

So you pop started it?
If so, then that means it's nothing ignition related.
Make sure you check all of your grounds (valve cover, transmission, and thermostat). Make sure the fat white wire on the alternator is tight. Make sure you test your battery not only for voltage, but for current too (amps). You can have a battery w/ 12+ volts and still not have enough current to turn the car over. Most people don't even think about that.

The valve cover ground doesn't ground anything specific. In fact it is just another wire that helps ensure a good ground. One day my headlights started to dim everytime my sub hit hard. The battery to chassis/tranny ground was new, so I knew that wasn't a problem, and I changed the valve cover ground, cleaned the connections to the cover and the front clip where the ground ends and put a new wire with good connectors on. No more bass fade, or headlight dimming!...I ended up changing any and all grounds I could find as a precaution after that...the thermostat is a ground wire that gets corroded and damaged by the heat of the thermostat...like I said my headlight dimming started out of the blue one day and the valve cover ground was the culprit...all grounds are important, and seem to be a major pain in the ass for every honda owner. Silverado: If your headlights and everything are working I'd have to agree with tony..probably a starter relay, or maybe a dead starter
