Shifter Button Won't Press Down
It's strange! The shifter button on my 95 LT1 (Automatic) will not press down during cold weather. On these cold mornings, I have to beat on it and finally, it will press down so I can get the car out of park. I have removed the button and squirted lubricant in it, but it hasn't helped. I have no problem with it in warm weather. After several miles when the car has warmed up, the button functions properly. Short of taking it to the dealer, can anyone offer any suggestions?

Re: Shifter Button Won't Press Down
try this, in the cold again, push down on the button while moving the shifter forward and backward in a push pull motion while pushing down on the button... my sisters 95 LT1 did it all the time...

Re: Shifter Button Won't Press Down
Lube it up....should fix it up nice..., seems the lube GM put on it to start has simply worn off.

Re: Shifter Button Won't Press Down
The solenoid at the bottom of the shaft is failing. Unfortunately, you must replace the entire shaft/solenoid unit. I think it runs about $120. This is the device that prevents the vehicle from shifting out of park unless the brake pedal is pressed. It takes about 2 hours to do the job, but only because you'll take your time so as not to break or scratch anything.
